Extract from the rulebook about compensations & thresholds:

If the GM who designated the RFA decides NOT to match the offer, he will be compensated as per the following table:
RFA Compensation Brackets
>10M : 1st and 2nd round picks of the next Entry draft + 1st round pick of the following Entry draft.
8.6M -10M : 1st and 2nd round picks of the next Entry draft + 2nd round pick of the following Entry draft.
7.1M-8.5M : 1st and 2nd round picks of the next Entry draft.
5.6M-7.0M : 1st and 3rd round picks of the next Entry draft
3.6M-5.5M : 2nd rounder of the next Entry draft
1.5M-3.5M : 3rd rounder of the next Entry draft

The numbers reported above refer to the salary offered in the new contract (and not to the one of the expired contract).

prima grana, a quanto pare l'ultimo arrivato aveva frainteso il funzionamento dei RFA:

I just didn't want Malkin and Koivu and foolishly thought I would get compensation once someone else signed them and didn't realize bidding had to start at higher than last year's salary.

naturalmente nei papiri inviatigli mesi fa c'era anche la spiegazione su come funziona l'asta RFA, ma considerando che è appena arrivato ed è all'esordio potrebbe anche starci di consentirgli di sostituire Koivu e Malkin con quelli che avrebbe realmente voluto tenere.

Nessuno per ora ha offerto per gli altri che poteva settare RFA per cui non si porrebbe quel problema.

Però insomma c'è da vedere se per gli altri partecipanti la cosa è accettabile o se vedono qualche problema nell'eventuale modifica.

Naturalmente sarebbe da decidere il prima possibile, per cui vediamo che feedback abbiamo nella mattinata di domani..

From looking at the translation it seems like Mik has explained the situation well. I wouldn't even be asking if there were bids on Beleskey or Neal since that would be unfair. This also adds Malkin and Koivu to UFA and Im sure some will be interested.

If you look at my team I have a lot of Cs and not many Ws, for this reason I deemed Malkin and Koivu expendable and thought once someone else signed them I would get draft pick compensation. This mistake is completely on me and I should have done a better job understanding free agency and if it is ruled I have to keep Malkin and Koivu it will just be a tough lesson to learn but not one that will cripple my team.
