Former Patriots running back Jonas Gray spent early Wednesday morning in the Hillsborough County jail in Florida for failing to pay child support. After a "cash purge" of $7,924, Gray was released at 3:30 a.m. -- 17 hours after turning himself in.
Gray's case has been in the courts for the past 18 months, and under the threat of 30 days in jail, Gray paid the $7,924 that was owed and was released.
The Notre Dame product is most known for his Sunday Night Football game against the Colts in 2014 when he had 37 carries for 201 yards and four touchdowns. The next week Gray showed up late to practice and was never really the same again.
He was cut before the 2015 season and after briefly playing for the Dolphins and Jaguars in 2015 he hasn't played in the NFL since.
