OVERVIEW
XXX won the Lou Groza Award and garnered first-team all-ACC honors. XXX actually missed the first two games of his senior season after having surgery in August on a torn right meniscus. He ended the season as the team's triple-threat specialist, re-gaining punting and kickoff duties as the season progressed. Honorable mention all-ACC as a punter with a 43.4-yard average overall; he averaged 42.7 yards a boot and placed the ball well after returning from injury. Had an arm span of 30 3/8 inches and a hand span of 7 7/8 inches at the combine.
STRENGTHS
Good height for the position with long legs and good flexibility. Is unfazed by kicking from either hash, is very accurate from 50 yards on either side or the center of the field. Consistently smooth approach and kick through the ball, albeit with a halted follow-through. Adequate hang-time, 4.4-4.5 seconds, on most 40-yard kicks. Capable of planting the ball inside the 10 or angling it well to a coffin corner.
WEAKNESSES
Wiry frame with muscle definition in the upper and lower body. Only adequate hip snap. Leans too far to his left on placements, leading to a horizontal swing plane and a lower kick than what is acceptable in the NFL. Reaches the end zone on kickoffs but sacrifices the hang-time needed to prevent long returns. Three-step punter with slow delivery. Inconsistent kicking directionally.
