Finora tute le squadre sono state molto restie a firmare ai prezzi richiesti dai giocatori, effettivamente potrebbe partire un momento di panico tra i giocatori.
Poi i 2-3 rimasti alla fine magari fanno di nuovo bei soldi, chi lo sa. Da qui a un mese il mercato deve attivarsi per forza.

There’s been a lot of talk about what’s kept MLB’s free-agent market moving at a snail’s pace. Some fans think the teams aren’t ponying up the money necessary to sign top players. Others say players are being too greedy, wanting too much money.

But this latest report about the New York Yankees and Yu Darvish, if it’s true, is quite a testament to the offseason stalemate we find ourselves in. It’s big money, a player not immediately jumping at it and the Yankees moving on quickly. Are even the Yankees getting impatient?

The Yankees acknowledged Thursday that they have interest in signing Darvish, who is considered the No. 1 free agent pitcher on the market, according to Jeff Passan’s rankings. The Yankees are also one of the teams on Darvish’s reported list of finalists. But this nugget via Michael Kay — the Yankees play-by-play voice and a radio host at ESPN NY — is better than both of those.

Yep, that’s a reported $160 million that Darvish didn’t bite on. That’s a lot of money, but also in the range of what many expect Darvish would sign for this winter. Signing a 31-year-old pitcher to a seven-year deal isn’t exactly a great long-term move, but baseball gonna baseball.

What’s interesting is that while we watching at home are stunned each day at the slow pace of things, there’s not a lot of waiting around for the Yankees. We know they want a pitcher, as their interest in trading for Gerrit Cole demonstrated a couple weeks ago.

The money is out there, at least for the top free agent on the market and from baseball’s biggest spender. But now we’ve learned that while the Yankees are willing to shell out some big bucks, they’re not gonna wait around for someone to say “yes” to $160 million.

L'utilità per una squadra come i Mets di dare 13M l'anno ad un 30enne che può produrre 115 di OPS+ nella migliore delle ipotesi mi sfugge...nemmeno fossero una contender. Meglio dare AB ai giovani, vedi Conforto che gli hanno fatto buttare un anno a forza di far giocare vecchi scarponi.

Se è vera quella di Darvish, gli Yankees l'hanno scampata bella. 7 anni ad un 31enne con storia di infortuni anche no.

Bruce ha lasciato ottimi ricordi in casa Mets e i piani non sono quelli del classico rebuilding almeno finchè hai Syndegaard e DeGrom come 1 e 2 della rotazione.

io sul giocatore ho dubbi...

ma come nel caso degli Yankees,è un giocatore a costo controllato che aggiungi ad una squadra forte,con una rotazione a 5 solida che ha già dimostrato di poterti portare alle WS(e vincerle)
senza svenarti in termini di trade

è un'ottima presa per modalità...
e perchè tutti questi starters consentiranno alla squadra di poter gestire gli IP delle stelle della rotazione...in particolare del vecchio Verlander

tecnicamente,bisogna vedere se Cole ci conferma che quello del 2015 è stato un unicum...e se il trend di calo mostrato negli ultimi 2 anni prosegue
