I understand the frustration, but still...I can't really figure out how this helps your team at all, or why it was impossible to get some value (an unsigned prospect for example).

It's pretty complicated/nearly impossible to have 9.5m of dump to get Rask, unless you make your move way in advance...

I had a look myself to try and trade away something more, but I can't really figure out anything that make sense for, example, a Getzlaf for shit and a 3rd.

we are in the same boat.

although you have more draft picks, so it's not as pertinent

i have zero picks this year, and i usually find a few good players every draft i have picks in.

at the very least, i clear salary to sign someone next season.

i already knew how the trade would look, and i already knew people were going to be upset about it, but the problem of 1st and 2nd place teams who were not trading and hoarding draft picks, that problem needed to be talked about

Capirei se ci fosse anche la 1st di Detroit. Capirei se ci fosse qualche prospetto rilevante in marcia verso Halifax. Ma cosi' no...

the logic is that i've offered numerous deals to numerous contending teams and i get zero fucking response
we got no offers from you, so I guess we're either not considered contenders or you're working your ass off trying to make someone else win

i've offered one of the best goalies in the world, Tuuka Rask for as low as a 3rd + dumps, and still no one is interested

are you fucking kidding me? really?
Rask has not been one of the best Gs this year, his team & defense are not very good this yr, and he makes 9.5M this season.
I thought you could think of these reasons yourself, but happy to help you out.

i recall in past seasons when i was going for the playoffs, i would always make trades to improve my team and go for the cup
true but..

lately that has not been the case, as teams in 1st or 2nd are being absolute cunts and hoarding picks instead of improving weaknesses.
.. not wanting to part ways with picks doesn't necessarily make anyone a cunt. One may hope to be able to win without losing picks you know :shades:

bullshit

i offered you a trade and it sat there for a week

at least have the decency to reject the trade

also bullshit

Rask is a top 5 goaltender in the league, top 5 in wins and in shutouts

The Boston Bruins defense is better than last seasons by far.

the problem is that you tend to shit all over success that isn't yours, so it's not hard to see that you can't take off the bure-coloured glasses and be objective

you probably think John Gibson is better than Hasek

really? that must mean I left it there so that my co-GM could also look at it and laugh

actually it kind of does.

i prided myself every year when i was contending to go for it all and make trades to give my team the best shot possible.

this is just something i've seen the past two seasons where teams who are top 3 in the conference play it so safe that they don't try and improve their teams, and it costs them in the playoffs

i am not saying trade ALL of your picks, but it certainly says something about teams who keep 5 or 6 picks when they clearly have an opportunity to improve their teams

lmao, what success? Rask is nowhere to be found in the top 30 goalies for SV% this season

I don't like when our offers are left hanging there without any replies, so if yours was not a joke of an offer (chances are it was, but can't remember) our franchise officially apologize for taking to long to turn it down

so this is your argument?

one statistic means everything?

well news flash, neither is Lundqvist

is he a shitty goalie?

no

lots of 'top' goalies are having years like this, look at Carey fucking Price

are you telling me that Carey Price is a terrible goaltender?
