According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Tom Brady and the NFLPA will be taking the league to court after commissioner Roger Goodell upheld the appeal of his four-game suspension for his role in Deflategate.
The report says Brady has two options — fast-track it with an injunction, or take more of a slow-play route and keep it going until after the season.
This comes to no surprise, as it was widely reported Brady would not accept anything unless he didn’t have to miss any games.

The Commissioner’s ruling today did nothing to address the legal deficiencies of due process. The NFL remains stuck with the following facts:

•The NFL had no policy that applied to players;
•The NFL provided no notice of any such policy or potential discipline to players;
•The NFL resorted to a nebulous standard of “general awareness” to predicate a legally unjustified punishment;
•The NFL had no procedures in place until two days ago to test air pressure in footballs; and
•The NFL violated the plain meaning of the collective bargaining agreement.

The fact that the NFL would resort to basing a suspension on a smoke screen of irrelevant text messages instead of admitting that they have all of the phone records they asked for is a new low, even for them, but it does nothing to correct their errors.

The NFLPA will appeal this outrageous decision on behalf of Tom Brady.

Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk and NBCSports discussed today the latest Deflategate news and Chris Mortensen’s defense of his inaccurate report.

In the wake of Mortensen’s now-deleted tweet stating that 11 of 12 Patriots footballs were 2 PSI below the allowable level, the NFL made no effort to correct the false report with the correct numbers. Florio suspects that some members of the league office deliberately allowed Mortensen’s report to remain uncorrected.

“When you consider what was going on with the false numbers that were out there and there wasn’t any effort, any desire, any inclination to get the truth out there, I think at some level, one or two people in the middle of this thing realized, ‘This is the best way to keep the Patriots off balance. This is the best way to keep them guessing, this is the best way not to investigate but to prosecute the Patriots,’ ” Florio said. “And that’s what this ultimately was. This wasn’t an investigation, it was a prosecution.”

Florio said that during NBC’s five-hour pregame show on Super Bowl Sunday, he contacted people within the league and tried to learn the correct pressure readings from the AFC championship game.

“I contacted multiple high-level people in the league during that show begging them to tell me the real numbers,” Florio said. “I was begging multiple league sources, ‘Give me the real numbers. Why not tell me the real numbers? We’ve got a five-hour platform, the audience keeps getting bigger and bigger as we get closer to kickoff, why not get the real numbers out there today?’ And no one would give me the real numbers. Now, what does that tell you?”

No settlement was reached in Deflategate on Monday, but Judge Richard Berman told both Tom Brady and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell that he expects to make a decision in the case Tuesday or Wednesday, or “definitely” by Friday.

“We did not reach a settlement,” Berman said, according to Stephen Brown of the New York Daily News. “The parties tried quite hard I think. In some case [a settlement] doesn’t happen. This is one of those cases.”

NFLPA attorney Jeffrey Kessler, who has argued on behalf of Brady, sounded confident as he left the courthouse, telling Gary Myers of the New York Daily News, “I trust the court will give us a just result.”

Monday marked the third time this month the parties sat with Berman in hopes of trying to work through a resolution (after sessions on Aug. 12 and Aug. 19, the second of which did not include Brady or Goodell).

Il merito della dichiarazione non lo discuto perché di questa faccenda non me ne è mai fregato niente.

Posto perché mi ha infastidito (si fa per dire eh...sono ben altre le cose) il pezzo tra virgolette.
Invece di chiamarlo patteggiamento chiamalo asdrubale ma la sostanza è la stessa. C'è una sentenza...i Pats intesi come organizzazione hanno asdrubalato una pena salatissima, segno inequivocabile che sono colpevoli. Brady ne era al corrente? Non lo so...vedremo cosa dirà il giudice. Le sentenze si applicano e non si discutono.
La dichiarazione di McNair su brady era alla cazzo di cane? Non lo so, podarsi, non me ne frega niente, se avessi detto solo quello non avrei postato. Ma che si venga a fare un giudizio di merito sui proprietari quando il tuo ha fatto quel che ha fatto mi fa ridere.
Poi se vuoi la mia opinione i Patriots erano 5000 volte più forti dei Colts e avrebbero vinto anche col pallone gonfiato a 432 atmosfere ma tant'è...sarà veniale come peccato ma sempre peccato eh...
