i'll bring this here..

Let me try to explain the situation to you Mik. This whole bidding process has been extremely frustrating and time consuming. I certainly know there are no UFAs that I "own." But, what's tending to happen is that your having a couple pricks who are bidding on players that are sure to end up on my team, or someone else's until they get bidded on that last moment.
see, there is no such thing.. players being 'sure' to end up on your team or someone else's it's a thing that exists only in your mind. Everyone has every right to bid on them until the last second.
superjoe2001 ha scritto:This resets the whole bidding process back another 3 more days with who knows what is going to happen. Clearly, there are some players that I like. I do call them my players only to the extent that I like them. But, if someone else likes them, that's fine with me. But, it's just not cool for a competitor to wait until the last second to make a bid on them to reset back the whole bidding process.
We did increase the minimum raise up to 0.5 during the last 12hrs to avoid what you're complaining about.. but if a player gets a raise of 0.5, then it means what you offered was not his market value. Just like when you outbid my offer for Clarkson (2.7 over 2.2) in the last available hours.
If my competitor is actually genuinely interested in them, they, theoretically, should have bid on them sooner. Not pull a jackass move like the ones ClaudeGiroux has been pulling off. It's a big pain in the ass and it makes me wonder whether or not the precious time that I am investing on the stanleit website is actually paying off. Input does not equal output.
Now, I find myself bidding on a huge number of extra players just to facilitate interest in other good players that are available to be had so that people won't bid on the players that I really want. I am also pulling off counter-jackass moves on Philly as retaliation. Now, all I can do is be prudent and have no choice now except to make bids at the last second because I am running out of cap space. I know I created this situation for myself and I can live with that. But, it shouldn't have to happen. Things just aren't being done in good faith anymore
good faith? these things happen in real world as well.. GMs can call players' agents to make new offers as many times as they want and as long as the player is not signed.. jackass moves have always been part of players' markets in any sport; being prudent, dealing with the cap, other GMs' lame/bad/smart tactics, frustration etc should all be part of the fun my friend. We are all in the same playground..
Other GMs will agree with me on that. The evidence for all the side-show bidding and mind gaming between people is littered throughout this thread (even with yourself Mik). I am not in a hockey pool for drama. I want things to be legitimate. I think there are two things that can resolve this situation. We can either have a bid count.
this would reduce fun and bring more serious problems.. how would you like being unable to bid on players cause you ran out of the allowed bids? that happening becuase some GMs agreed raising multiple times a player as soon as you bid on him? we don't need to create problems to fix things you don't like that are not real problems.
Or we can just say that the furthest that an auction can be set back for a player just only to one day.
This already happens in the last days of free agency.. but can't be considered for its early stages when a lot of players are on the board.
First of all, GMs don't have to be forced to monitor the situation all day not to lose their players.. and, as long as possible (till the last week of FA), we need to leave them the chance to be away for a full day without paying for yrs only becuase they had a more important commitment to fulfill when players of their interest were under bidding.
Second, 3 days (goes down to 2 days in the second week anyway) let GMs the time to ponder/change decisions while other situations evolve.. these decisions will affect the teams' destiny for years, no reason to make those decisions in a rush when we have the time to defer the process.
As for the time consuming thing, i think it's up to you actually.. the system let you to place your bets in a very quick way and come back 20hrs later to check the situation without losing anything.. so, if you feel like, you can actually spend on it only 10 minutes a day despite being involved on those multiple last hrs raises you hate so much.
What we could work on for the future is to increase in the 1st week (3days offers duration) the period where the minimum raise grows up to 0.5, like to 24hrs instead of 12hrs.. but that could be complicated to implement on the site, cause we would need to differentiate the length of the 0.5 period depending on dates.. not sure vicram&kachlex are willing to go into it.
