Re: Around the MLB

MLB owners vote to proceed with 2020 season under March agreement
MLB owners voted unanimously to proceed with the 2020 season under the terms of their March 26 agreement with the MLB Players Association, the league said in a statement Monday night, after the union's executive board voted down MLB's latest offer of a 60-game season with expanded playoffs.
The owners' vote now gives commissioner Rob Manfred the power to implement a schedule of his choosing -- likely between 50 and 60 games.

Re: Around the MLB
There’s a strategy to this. When one side is responsible for 90 percent of the problem, making the audience equally sick of both parties is a net benefit. The league took more than 40 days from when Jeff Wilpon mentioned wanting to renegotiate the March agreement to Andrew Cuomo to actually making an offer. It took them until June 15 to make an offer for 100 percent pro rata—the terms they agreed to in March. An offer they seemingly made only as a hedge against a grievance from the union, and to run time off the clock so a shortened season implemented by the commissioner was harder to contest.
These are not the terms under which fans rejoice in having baseball back. These are the terms under which it feels good to no longer have to hear about any of this shit. At least, for a little while.

Re: Around the MLB
Nationals to host Yankees on Opening Day
The reigning World Series champion Washington Nationals are slated to host the New York Yankees when baseball returns, sources confirmed to ESPN on Saturday.
The matchup between last year's champion and this year's co-favorite is set to take place on Opening Day at Nationals Park, although Major League Baseball has yet to finalize an official schedule.
On Tuesday, after the MLB Players Association signed off on final details of a proposal, the league began to move forward on a 60-game regular season that will run from July 23 or 24 through Sept. 27.
Teams will play their four divisional opponents 10 times each, and the other 20 games will be against interleague opponents in the same geographical area (for example, National League West teams vs. American League West teams).

Re: Around the MLB

Possibile opt out per Mike Trout. Sarebbe una bella botta all'MLB.
